Managing Laboratory Quality

 

Susan Peters of St. Heliers Hospital Epsom gives an insight into the issues involved in achieving accreditation for a pathology lab to UKAS requirements for Good Laboratory and Management Practice (GLP, GMP) - an interesting opportunity to see where the requirements match and where they vary from the ISO 9001approach. She also explains the workings of Surrey/Sussex Quality Lab group, and how they help lab-based quality practitioners.

Directions to the Spectrum Sports Centre:

·         From M25 (J10) follow signs to Portsmouth (A3).

·         Take turn off towards Guildford centre (A320), turn left again at the Parkway Travel Inn traffic lights.

·         Turn left at the next set of traffic lights into the Spectrum Sports Centre car park.

·         For a detailed map, go to www.multimap.com  and type GU1 1UP in the search box.

·         Walk up the ramp, through the entrance doors and turn right, down a ramp, turn right at the bottom, through the doors and turn right again. Tea and coffee are usually available before the start of the meeting.

From Guildford’s main line station, the number 100 bus leaves the Friary Bus Station every 12 minutes throughout the day.

 

From Guildford’s London Road station (20 minute walk)

·         Turn left out of the station into York Road.

·         Turn left at the traffic lights on to London Road.

·         Continue along London Road until you reach Stoke Park.

·         Cross the park. Spectrum is located on the opposite side of the A25 to Stoke Park.

 

Entrance to the Spectrum Sports centre is up a ramp.  On entering the building, follow the signs to the Administration Office, take the first doors on the right, which takes you down a ramp, the meeting room is adjacent to the Administration Office on the right.
